Union Pacific’s New Texarkana Focus Site Provides Customers Competitive Access to Rail

Everything really is bigger in Texas, and Union Pacific Railroad’s newest focus site connecting customers to rail is no exception – with nearly 12,000 developable acres of land, TexAmericas Center is one of the largest rural industrial centers in the Americas.

Located just west of Texarkana, the center features 3.5 million square feet of office, manufacturing, warehouse and storage space. Its strategic location puts it within 500 miles of 23 major metro areas, including the four-state market of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

“We’re excited to add the TexAmericas Center to our network of focus sites, providing customers a new competitive access point to Union Pacific’s 23-state network,” said Kenny Rocker, Union Pacific executive vice president-Marketing and Sales. “Pairing the location’s natural and human resources with Union Pacific’s premier franchise creates a hotspot for growth that we’re thrilled to be a part of.”

The Texas location is one of 30 focus sites across Union Pacific’s network, putting rail within reach for businesses looking to grow by leveraging the efficiency of rail. These large-scale development sites – suited for custom-built warehouses or industrial facilities – are railroad hubs that enable Union Pacific to concentrate resources, effectively manage logistics and provide customers with targeted services.

TexAmericas Center provides access to rail, interstates, highways and airports, ensuring efficient logistics and transportation solutions. The site offers various services, including third-party logistics, transloading, and rail car storage, switching and movement services. TexAmericas Center handles all aspects of the entitlement process during the development’s review and initial approval period, eliminating six to 12 months of public review.

Union Pacific will begin providing intermodal services to the site by the end of 2024, with additional services added next year.

“This collaboration with Union Pacific is a game changer for our region,” said Eric Voyles, TexAmericas Center executive vice president and chief economic development officer. “Through our partnership, we will provide unparalleled access to transportation solutions and enhance our ability to attract new businesses.”
